Bunyan Development Foundation launched on Wednesday its Ramadan food basket project, aiming to provide support to 41,000 needy families in the capital Sana'a and Sana'a province.
At the launch, Member of the Supreme Political Council Mohammed al-Naimi highlighted the significance of the initiative in alleviating the hardships faced by vulnerable populations during the holy month.
He praised Banyan Foundation’s ongoing efforts in development and relief work, encouraging the well-off and business community to contribute to alleviating the suffering of the poor and needy across Yemen.
Secretary of the Capital Sana'a Dr. Hamoud Ubad expressed admiration for the foundation's resource mobilization, emphasizing the importance of enhancing social solidarity.
Ubad commended the "Eat" program, which provides food assistance to vulnerable families year-round, and noted the importance of these charitable initiatives in Yemen’s current circumstances due to the ongoing conflict and siege.
Ismail Al-Jarmouzi, the Assistant Undersecretary of the Secretariat, also stressed the value of the Ramadan food basket project, especially during the month of Ramadan, to support the poor and needy.
Ali Maher, Head of the Field Coordination Sector at Bunyan Foundation, explained that the project is valued at more than 1.4 billion YER and will provide food baskets to 41,000 families, benefiting a total of 262,300 individuals.
The project, supported by the community, government, and private sector, is part of the foundation’s broader "Feeding program, which also distributes over 13 million loaves of bread daily to assist struggling families during Ramadan.
Maher emphasized the foundation's ongoing efforts to empower these families, with a focus on rehabilitation and training for self-sufficiency. He also highlighted the foundation's charitable bakery project, which produces 44,000 loaves daily, serving families in several regions.
The foundation urged continued support for the Ramadan Basket Project and the "Feeding " Program, calling on the Zakat Authority, philanthropists, and Yemenis to contribute through various donation channels, including bank accounts and electronic wallets.
