Sana'a - Saba:

The Parliament continued its session on Wednesday, chaired by Speaker Yahya Ali al-Ra'i, to address a range of issues affecting citizens' lives, with the presence of Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahawi and government officials.

The Parliament discussed key topics, including the need to improve the salary disbursement mechanism, alleviate the economic hardships caused by ongoing conflict, control prices, and combat smuggling.

Members also stressed the importance of addressing violations in police departments and courts, reforming the judicial system, and resolving the issue of small depositors.

Further, the council emphasized the necessity of enforcing traffic laws on all vehicles, including motorcycles, and ensuring that minors are prohibited from driving. Members called for better traffic organization to reflect the civilized image of Sana'a and other Yemeni cities.

Ministers provided updates on their respective sectors. Minister of Justice Mujahid Abdullah highlighted the completion of over 91,000 cases in courts, the release of over 2,700 prisoners, and the submission of a draft amendment to the Criminal Procedures Law.

Minister of Finance Abduljabbar Ahmed assured the council that salaries were being disbursed according to the set mechanism, and confirmed over two billion riyals had been paid to small depositors.

The Parliament decided to form a special committee, led by Vice President Abdulrahman al-Jumaei, to continue discussions on the issues raised. The committee will include key ministers and committee heads to find appropriate solutions.

The Parliament postponed the final discussion on the draft law to replace Law No. (3) of 2004 regarding the Council of Ministers, to Thursday’s session.
