Hodeida - Saba:
A meeting was held today in Al Hodeida governorate, chaired by Governor Abdullah Atifi, to discuss mechanisms for strengthening market monitoring and intensifying field inspection campaigns to ensure market stability in the governorate with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan.

The meeting, which included the Deputy Governor for Services Affairs, Mohamed Hlais, and directors of the Economy and Industry Office and its branches in the districts, reviewed the plans for regulatory campaigns in the markets at both the governorate center and district levels. The aim was to ensure everyone complies with the established regulations and maintain supply stability.

In the meeting, Governor Atifi emphasized the importance of field monitoring efforts in protecting citizens from price manipulation and the sale of expired products, stressing the need for continuous coordination with relevant authorities to apprehend violators and manipulators.

He confirmed that local authorities would not tolerate any attempts to exploit citizens' needs during the holy month, urging traders to adhere to the set prices and cooperate with the concerned authorities to ensure market stability.

On his part, the Deputy Governor for Services Affairs, Mohamed Hlais, stressed the need to double efforts to monitor markets, ensure the availability of essential goods at fair prices, and take measures against violators, including the immediate closure of shops that manipulate prices.

He highlighted the importance of cooperation between the relevant authorities and traders to help alleviate citizens' burdens during the holy month and emphasized the need for a joint mechanism between the Economy Office and security authorities to monitor the markets daily and identify any violations.

For his part, Saleh Atifa, Director of the Economy, Industry, and Investment Office, confirmed the office's commitment to monitoring the supply situation and addressing any imbalances that may arise, noting that field teams, in cooperation with local councils and security authorities, would ensure proper market function.

He emphasized the importance of citizens submitting complaints about any violations, assuring that the office would address them seriously to protect consumers from exploitation.
