Baghaei: Britain, Australia's allegations about Iran baseless
Baghaei: Britain, Australia's allegations about Iran baseless
Baghaei: Britain, Australia's allegations about Iran baseless
[Fri, 20 Dec 2024 16:17:23 +0300]

Tehran-Saba:

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei said on Friday that allegations contained in the joint statement of the Australian and British Foreign and Defense Ministries about the Islamic Republic to be baseless and weak, calling on the two countries to reconsider their interventionist policies that contradict international law.

In a statement carried by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Friday, Baghaei recalled Britain and Australia's continued support for the illegal movements, crimes and attacks committed by the Zionist entity in occupied Palestine and the West Asia region, condemning the unilateral and biased positions of the leaders of the two countries regarding the defensive operation carried out by Iran in response to the Zionist aggression that targeted its embassy in Damascus.

He added the Iranian defensive operations represented by (True Promise-1) and (True Promise-2) were carried out in accordance with the principle of legitimate defense and based on international law and the United Nations Charter.

The Iranian spokesman also refuted the repeated allegations of sending ballistic missiles from Iran to Russia, describing the repetition of these accusations as part of the American-British plan aimed at further militarizing international relations and internationalizing the conflict in Ukraine.

Baghaei explained that the Ukrainian president himself denied the allegations of sending Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia.

He stressed that the roots and main element of the security chaos in the West Asia region go back to the aggressive occupation and expansion policies practiced by the Zionist entity with continuous and comprehensive support from the United States, Britain, Australia and other Western countries, which has been embodied over the past 14 months in the crimes of genocide against the Palestinian people and the aggression against Lebanon, Syria and Yemen.

Baghaei also criticized Australia and Britain's systematic violation of human rights in the prisons and refugee camps of both countries, in addition to directly carrying out or cooperating with the Zionist entity in its crimes against the Palestinian people, as well as the continuation of colonial plans to eliminate indigenous citizens in Australia, calling for an end to Britain and Australia's selective and false approach towards human rights.

Recalling the statements made by the British Foreign Secretary a few days ago, saying: "The decision to commit crimes of genocide inside occupied Palestine requires the loss of millions of lives," Baghaei considered London's policies of denying the crimes of ethnic cleansing in Gaza as a cause for shame.

He said: Such a government lacks any behavioral qualifications that allow it to advise others regarding human rights.

In another aspect of his statements today, Baghaei refuted the allegations about Iran's peaceful nuclear program, saying: Iran's nuclear activities and projects are based on the country's technical needs, and proceed within the framework of Iran's legitimate obligations and rights as one of the member states of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, based on the safeguards agreement, and under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency, which has confirmed in its reports that these activities do not deviate from their peaceful path.

In this context, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman referred to the sailing of a nuclear submarine by the United States and Britain, as two countries possessing nuclear weapons, towards Australian waters within the framework of the (AUKUS) Treaty, and the widespread concern and criticism that followed in the International Atomic Energy Agency, and their inaction in the face of the arsenal of weapons of mass destruction possessed by the Zionist entity.

He described these policies as a clear example of the selective positions of these countries towards the principle of nuclear non-proliferation, and an indication of ignoring international peace and stability.

Baghaei also called for putting an end to these dual positions by Britain and Australia towards international laws and regulations.
