Brussels – Saba:
The European Union decided on Monday to impose the 15th package of sanctions against Russia, as the list included 1,879 individuals and 507 legal entities.
According to Russia Today, according to the publication of the sanctions decision issued by the Federation Council, the list included 1,879 individuals and 507 legal entities, most of whom consist of citizens and companies from Russia, in addition to businessmen, officials, and companies from China, Iran, North Korea, and other countries.
"The new restrictions target non-EU tankers that help circumvent the price cap set for a barrel of Russian oil or support the Russian energy sector," the EU Council said in a statement today. The statement also noted that the restrictions affected about 52 ships.
According to remarks made by EU foreign policy chief Kaya Kallas before the sanctions were announced, "the 15th package of sanctions is directed against companies from China and North Korea as well as against officials in Pyongyang."
Russian President Vladimir Putin had earlier stressed that sanctions would not work while dealing a serious blow to the entire global economy.
