Sana’a - Saba:

An expanded meeting chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister Islamic scholar Mohammed Meftah was held on Monday in the capital Sana’a to address issues related to the maintenance and safety of main roads in Yemen.

The meeting aimed to discuss solutions that would ensure public safety and protect citizens' lives and property.

The discussions focused on prioritizing the maintenance of key roads, including the Sana’a-Hodeida, Sana’a-Dhamar-Ibb-Taiz, Hodeida-Dhamar, Marib-Bayda, Marib-Jawf, Sana’a-Sa’ada, and Sana’a-Hajjah routes.

Key issues included addressing accident-prone areas, such as those with poor visibility, potholes, worn shoulders, and construction waste. The meeting also reviewed the need for cleaning culverts and enhancing traffic safety.

Traffic congestion in the capital and other provinces was another major topic. The officials discussed measures to alleviate congestion through coordinated efforts by the Ministries of Transport and Public Works, Local and Rural Development, and the General Traffic Department.

The First Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining priority roads to ensure safe transportation and protect lives. He also highlighted the need to enforce safety regulations for all vehicles.

Minister of Transport Mohammed Quhaim reviewed the completed road maintenance projects, ongoing projects, and future plans. The meeting concluded with several recommendations aimed at improving road safety and contributing to the development of road infrastructure for the benefit of citizens.
