Zionist plans for ethnic cleansing in al-Quds, makes Palestinians a minority, strangling al-Aqsa

Sana'a - Saba:

Since the Zionist enemy entity occupied the city of al-Quds in 1967, it has been working hard to control the holy city and change its features with the aim of Judaizing it and ending the Arab Palestinian presence in it.

The Palestinians constitute the majority in the occupied city of al-Quds, although this is not what the Zionist enemy planned, worked on and is still working on, which is the "Judaization of al-Quds".

The Judaization of al-Quds is the continuous attempts by the Zionist occupation authorities to strip the city of its historical Islamic and Christian identity and impose a new, modern character.

Indeed, al-Quds has become a non-stop Zionist construction site, where bulldozers have a clear ideology, which is to keep the Palestinians a minority within their homeland.

For this purpose, the occupying entity has used many means and taken many measures against the city and its residents, as settlement in the city and in its lands was one of the most important means to achieve the Jews' primary goal towards the city of al-Quds.

Over the past decades, the Zionist enemy has sought to complete its settlement plan aimed at completely controlling the city of al-Quds, where it has worked to achieve this by expanding the so-called borders of al-Quds east and north, by annexing Ma'ale Adumim settlement, which is inhabited by about 20,000 people, as a main settlement from the east, in addition to small military settlements such as "Anatot, Mishor, Adumim, Kadar, Kva'at Binyamin" from the east, and "Khav Ya'akov, Kva'at Ze'ev, Kva'at Hadasha, Kva'at Hardar" from the north, which doubled the number of Zionist settlers and at the same time reduced the percentage of the Palestinian Arab population who constitute a third of the population of al-Quds, i.e. about 220 thousand people, including the annexed part, 380 thousand people, knowing that the number of settlers in East Jerusalem is equal to the number of settlers in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip (180 thousand settlers).

The number of settlements in occupied al-Quds, according to statistics from the Land Research Center, is 29 settlements, 14 of which are in the annexed part of al-Quds, i.e. the so-called East al-Quds borders, and these settlements are spread in al-Quds district in the form of dense settlement blocs that take a circular shape around the city and its suburbs, represented by large settlement centers.

It is also noteworthy that the municipal borders (West al-Quds) were officially expanded, but in practice 72 square kilometers were seized by various decisions and by restricting urban expansion in al-Quds and turning the areas into Jewish settlements, as happened with Jabal Abu Ghneim.

The Judaization of al-Quds is a term that describes the ongoing attempts by the Zionist entity to strip the city of al-Quds of its historical Islamic and Christian identity and impose a new, modern character, namely the Jewish character.

Means of Judaizing al-Quds:

The incursions of the Temple groups and Zionist extremists are not the only tool for Judaizing al-Quds; rather, the Zionist entity is now seeking to strangle it through an "ethnic cleansing process of entire neighborhoods in the holy city."

Al-Bustan neighborhood, whose residents are now threatened with forced displacement, had the lion's share of the demolition crimes, as it is the first line of defense for al-Aqsa Mosque, while 37 demolition operations were carried out by the Zionist enemy in al-Quds Governorate during the past month, including ten forced self-demolition operations, and in the town of Silwan alone, 14 facilities were demolished.

In this context, Fakhri Abu Diab, a member of Silwan Land Defense Committee, warned of a Zionist plan to demolish al-Bustan neighborhood and expel its residents from it, with the aim of completing the settlement expansion project, leading to the strangulation of the blessed al-Aqsa Mosque.

He stressed that the Zionist enemy is determined to carry out ethnic cleansing of entire neighborhoods in the holy city, with the aim of resolving its issue as quickly as possible.

Abu Diab said: "If the Zionist enemy is able to demolish al-Bustan neighborhood, this will lead to the removal of entire al-Quds neighborhoods."

He pointed out that there are persistent Zionist attempts to demolish dozens of homes and displace the residents of al-Bustan, especially after the Zionist enemy municipality carried out demolition operations in the neighborhood during the past few days, and delivered other orders to about five Maqdesian families.

Abu Diab stressed that the institutions of the Zionist enemy and its Judaization arms, with the support of the settlement associations, want to resolve the issue of al-Quds and reduce its population composition in favor of the settlers.

He explained that the vicinity of al-Aqsa Mosque is the focus of Zionist targeting, because the town of Silwan is considered the first line of defense for the blessed mosque, and it is its protective shield.

Abu Diab added the Zionist enemy is targeting the south of al-Aqsa through several means, including demolishing homes under the pretext of not having a license, knowing that these homes were built before the occupation, and also displacing Jerusalemites, and establishing gardens, Talmudic paths, and biblical museums.

He explained that al-Bustan neighborhood is only 300 meters away from al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Zionist entity seeks to establish what is called the "Biblical Garden" in the neighborhood, and to invest the land for future settlement and Judaization purposes.

Abu Diab considered that the demolition and Judaization of al-Bustan neighborhood paves the way for moving to other neighborhoods in Silwan, so the pace of demolition has increased significantly in the neighborhood during the current year.

He warned that the Zionist enemy wants to take revenge on Jerusalemites and Palestinians, by implementing its systematic policies, whether through demolition, settlement, displacement, Judaization, and others.

In turn, AbdulKarim Abu Sneineh, a member of al-Bustan Neighborhood Committee, warned against the fierce attack against al-Bustan neighborhood spreading to other al-Quds neighborhoods. In press statements, he called for a firm and decisive stance that would push the people of al-Quds to unite in the face of Zionist encroachment.
