The Russian Defense Ministry announced Monday that its forces have taken control of a new town in eastern Ukraine, while 1,900 soldiers have been eliminated in the past 24 hours.

The Russian Defense Ministry said, in its daily report on the progress of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, that during the past 24 hours, units of the Center Forces Group took control of the town of Novoalexeyevka in Donetsk, repelled 11 counterattacks by Ukrainian groups, and eliminated 1,900 soldiers.

It added that three armored personnel carriers, six ammunition depots, and two electronic warfare stations were destroyed.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that air defense systems shot down 59 Ukrainian drones over several Russian provinces.

For its part, Ukraine announced the killing of 11 people and the injury of 68 others as a result of a Russian missile strike targeting a residential building in the Sumy region, eastern Ukraine.
