Sa'ada - Saba:

The Chairmen of the Court of Appeal Judge Sulaiman al--Shamiri and the Public Prosecution Judge Ibrahim Jahez, conducted an inspection on Tuesday of the Central Reformatory and Reserve in Sa'ada province to assess the conditions of prisoners.

Accompanied by Shura Council member Salman Awfan and Sultan Rashid, Director of the Social Affairs and Labor Office, the judges met with prison officials and inmates to discuss the treatment of prisoners, the duration of their sentences, and the standards of care and shelter provided within the facility.

During the visit, the Chief Prosecutor instructed the release of several prisoners who had served three-quarters of their sentences, as long as they did not present a danger to society. He also called for the deportation of foreign prisoners who had completed their sentences and were convicted under foreign laws, in accordance with court rulings.

Judges al-Shamiri and Jahez emphasized the importance of respecting judicial decisions and warned that any interference with the legal process would lead to criminal accountability.

They reaffirmed the judiciary's commitment to upholding Sharia law, protecting rights and freedoms, and ensuring swift and fair justice, particularly in matters involving prisoners.

The two judges commended the efforts of the Correctional and Reservation Prison Administrations, acknowledging their ongoing work to safeguard prisoners' rights and provide necessary care despite challenging circumstances.

Prison officials highlighted the importance of the visit, noting the continued cooperation and communication with the prosecution to ensure prisoners receive their legal rights as guaranteed by law.
