UN: 345,000 people to face catastrophic hunger this winter in Gaza
[Fri, 18 Oct 2024 16:54:40 +0300]

New York - Saba:
A United Nations assessment has revealed that around 345,000 Palestinians would face catastrophic hunger this winter in Gaza due to a decline in aid delivery, warning of the risk of famine across the territory.

The chief economist at the UN World Food Programme, Arif Husain, stated that trade supplies have declined, infrastructure has been destroyed, agriculture has collapsed, and people have no money.

The number of people facing catastrophic food insecurity is expected to reach 345,000 between November 2024 and April 2025, equivalent to 16% of the population.

The situation will deteriorate starting from November, with around 60,000 cases of acute malnutrition among children aged six months to four years expected.
