PARIS September 01. 2024 (Saba) — In a thrilling encounter in the third round of the French Football League, Lens managed a dramatic 1-1 draw with Monaco on Sunday.
The match saw Monaco take the lead with a header from Swiss player Denis Zakaria in the 84th minute. However, Lens struck back in the fourth minute of stoppage time, with Polish player Przysztof Frankowski converting a penalty to level the score.
Lens dominated much of the game, creating several opportunities in the first half. They were close to scoring early on, with Adrian Thomasson hitting the post and Wesley Said striking the crossbar.
Although Remy Lapo Lascari appeared to have scored for Lens in the 79th minute, his goal was disallowed after a VAR review confirmed an error by one of his teammates.
The draw leaves both Lens and Monaco with seven points each, sharing third place in the league on goal difference.
