SANA'A September 01. 2024 (Saba)- The Specialized Criminal Division in Amanat al-Asimah al-Asimah gave the remaining defendants in the completed case of the 11 defendants in the assassination of Ibrahim al-Houthi the opportunity to submit their appeal petitions and respond to the supplementary prosecution's appeal petition.
In today's session, presided over by the head of the division, Judge Abdullah Ali al-Najjar, the lawyer for the blood relatives submitted a petition in response to the some defendants appeal.
The initial verdict in the case returned from the division regarding the 11 defendants was handed down on Dhu al-Qa'dah 26, 1445 AH, convicting ten of the defendants and sentencing one of them to death by firing squad, nine to ten to five years in prison, one acquitted, confiscating the house where the crime was committed and the defendants' phones used in the crime, and one acquitted due to insufficient evidence.
On Muharram 25, 1445 AH, the Specialized Criminal Court of First Instance convicted 19 defendants from the group and sentenced 16 of them to death and three to ten to three years in prison.
