SANA'A August 31. 2024 (Saba) - A meeting in Sana'a, chaired by Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works and Chairman of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology Yahya Al-Sayani, discussed on Saturday the reasons for the delay of the baggage of some passengers departing from Sana'a Airport on board flight IY646 of Yemen Airways.
The meeting, which included the Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yemen Airways, Khalil Jahaf, the Authority's Undersecretary Arif Al Ashram, the Authority's Assistant Undersecretary for Aviation Safety Affairs, Dr. Abdulhamid Abu Talib, and the Director of Sana'a International Airport, Khalid Al Shayef, reviewed the report submitted by the committee assigned by the Transport and Public Works Deputy Minister and the Deputy General Aviation Authority to go to the International Airport in time to meet with the Airport Director and Yemen Airways concerned, to identify the reasons that led to the delay of the passengers' luggage, address them and develop radical solutions to the issue.
The meeting discussed issues related to providing fuel for airplanes and expediting additional flights to alleviate the suffering of Yemenis, especially patients who need to travel for treatment abroad.
At the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works stressed the need to redouble efforts to improve performance and avoid any issues related to baggage delays, noting that the necessary and quick measures have been taken to deliver the delayed baggage to travelers.
Al-Sayani pointed out the keenness of the ministry, the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Yemeni Airlines to provide the best services to travelers, noting that the Yemen Oil Company has been contacted to provide fuel for aircraft and start operating additional emergency flights to alleviate the increasing demand for travel.
