MOSCOW August 29. 2024 (Saba) - The Russian Defense Ministry on Thursday said its forces have successfully liberated two new towns in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.

Russian news agencies quoted the ministry as saying, in its daily report on the progress of the special military operation, that: "Units of Russian troops managed to liberate the town of Telmakhovka in the Lugansk People's Republic; Ukrainian forces suffered significant losses in lives and equipment; and other units succeeded in liberating the town of Nikolaevka located in the Donetsk People's Republic and repelled seven counterattacks launched by Ukrainian assault groups on their positions."

On the developments of the situation in the Kursk province, the ministry noted that Russian aviation carried out strikes on concentrations of eight Ukrainian brigades in 11 districts of the Sumy province, namely Belopolye, Basovka, Vodolagi, Glukhov, Iskriskovshchina, Mikhailovskoye, Pervomayskoye, Postogorod, Sumy, Shalygino, and Isman.

The forces of the Kiev regime on the Kursk axis lost about 400 armed men and 29 armored vehicles, including an infantry fighting vehicle, 27 armored combat vehicles, an armored personnel carrier, and a field gun, over the past day.

A Russian military group, with the support of the Army Aviation Corps and artillery, repelled four attacks by the Kiev regime forces on the axes of the towns of Burki, Korenevo, and Cherkassky Porechnoye, and attacks in the direction of the towns of Spalnoye, Burki, Kremyanoye, Martinovka, and Cherkassky Konobelkan were also thwarted.

The total losses of the Kiev regime forces during the battles in the direction of the Russian Kursk province amounted to more than 5.5 thousand military personnel, 71 tanks, and various military equipment.
