WASHINGTON August 24. 2024 (Saba) - Independent American candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. announced his withdrawal from the presidential race and his support for Republican candidate Donald Trump, a reorganization in the late stage of the presidential race, and could give the former president a modest boost from Kennedy supporters.
Kennedy said in a press conference on Friday that his internal opinion polls showed that his presence in the race would hurt Trump and help Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, although recent public opinion polls do not provide a clear indication that he is having a significant impact on the support of either candidate from the two major parties.
Kennedy (70 years old) attacked the Democratic Party in his conference in the swing state of Arizona, accusing it of deviating from its core values, and that it has become the party of war, censorship, corruption, pharmaceutical companies and money owners, according to his expression.
Kennedy touched upon, at the beginning of his speech, that he was originally a Democrat, but left the party last October due to the party's orientations, and therefore decided to enter the race as an independent for its sake.
Kennedy, the nephew of former President John F. Kennedy, had tried to challenge Joe Biden for the Democratic nomination before later deciding to withdraw and run independently. Trump praised Robert Kennedy during a speech in Phoenix, Arizona, saying Kennedy knew firsthand the dangers faced by leaders who stand up to America's corrupt political establishment, and that they shared common views.
