Churches Supreme Council condemns Israeli persistent assaults on Aqsa Mosque

OCCUPIED QUDS August 13. 2024 (Saba) - The Supreme Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine on Tuesday condemned the persistent aggression by Zionist forces and the settlers, led by ministers and members of the Knesset, against sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque and its supreme religious status, dubbing the step as a provocation and disdain for the sentiments of more than two billion Muslims around the world.

The committee confirmed in statement by its chairman, member of Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Dr. Ramzi Khoury, on Tuesday, that these raids on anniversary of the alleged so-called “destruction of the Temple” come in context of the attempts of the extremist enemy government, led by the racist trio Netanyahu, Smotrich and Ben Gvir, to implement their project.

Judaization and colonialism, not only in Jerusalem city and its sanctities, but in rest of the occupied Palestinian territories.

She noted that this renewed aggression against Al-Aqsa Mosque by Jewish extremists, their desecration of its courtyards, their performance of Talmudic rituals, and the raising of the Zionist flag, is considered a dangerous escalation, targeting the occupied city of Jerusalem and its sanctities, and an attempt to impose a new reality that violates international law, international legitimacy resolutions, and the historical and legal status of the city of Jerusalem and its sanctities.

The Committee called on the relevant international institutions and all churches of the world to condemn this aggression and provide protection for Al-Aqsa Mosque and the rest of the Islamic and Christian holy sites, in commitment to their legal, political and moral responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security.
