OCCUPIED AL-QUDS August 09. 2024 (Saba) - Tens of thousands of Palestinian worshipers attended Friday prayers at al-Aqsa Mosque, despite the restrictions imposed by Zionist enemy forces around the Old City and the mosque.
The Islamic Endowments Department in al-Quds reported that 40,000 worshipers participated in the Friday prayers at al-Aqsa Mosque, including an absentee funeral prayer for the souls of martyrs from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
Local sources indicated that Zionist enemy forces arrested two young men as they left al-Aqsa Mosque, after mistreating them and taking them to Bab al-Asbat Police Station in the Old City of occupied al-Quds.
The forces set up dozens of iron barriers in the city's streets, around the Old City and al-Aqsa Mosque, stopping worshipers, seizing their IDs, and imposing restrictions on the entry of worshipers, particularly young men.
Many young men were prevented from entering al-Aqsa Mosque at Bab al-Asbat, one of the gates to the Old City, forcing them to perform Friday prayers near al-Yusufiyah Cemetery.
In his sermon, al-Aqsa Mosque preacher Sheikh Mohammed Sarandah prayed for the salvation of the oppressed in Gaza, asking God to replace their sorrow with joy and their fear with security, urging Muslims to remain steadfast and to visit al-Aqsa Mosque despite the escalating tensions.
Sheikh Sarandah emphasized that the restrictions imposed by the Zionist enemy on al-Aqsa Mosque and its visitors, including imams, speakers, workers, and administrators, only serve to increase tension and unrest.
He called on wise leaders to restrain those who disregard the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
He further stated, "O Muslims, if you fail to support your oppressed brothers, both rulers and ruled, it is forbidden for you.
If you fail to support the oppressed and displaced in Gaza, it is forbidden for you, just as the sanctity of the sacred House of God in the sacred month in the sacred land."
