NEW YORK August 06. 2024 (Saba) - The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has said the world faces the threat of the use of nuclear weapons again.
In a message marking the 79th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima last night, Guterres said: "Nuclear weapons and threats to use them are not only on the pages of textbooks in history, but such rhetoric appears daily against the backdrop of the situation in international relations."
"It's a real danger facing the world," he said.
"The only way to eliminate the threat of nuclear weapons once and for all is to eliminate them."
He pointed out that "a nuclear war cannot be a winner, and such a war should not be waged in any case."
