BAMAKO July 31. 2024 (Saba) - The Malian army launched on Wednesday airstrikes against militant targets in Tinzaoutine and nearby areas, responding to recent attacks on their forces and Russian allies.
The assaults, which occurred between July 22 and 27 near the Algerian border, resulted in numerous casualties among Malian and Russian troops.
The Malian military targeted Tuareg and al-Qaeda-affiliated groups, striking hideouts and logistical sites.
This action comes amid Mali's shift from Western to Russian support since the 2020-2021 military coups, with recent joint defense agreements involving Burkina Faso and Niger.
