DOHA July 31. 2024 (Saba) - The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned in the strongest terms the assassination of the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, considering this assassination "a heinous crime, a dangerous escalation , a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law."
The ministry said in a statement today, Wednesday: "The State of Qatar condemns in the strongest terms the assassination of Dr. Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement in Palestine (Hamas) in the Iranian capital, Tehran, and considers it a heinous crime, a dangerous escalation and a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law."
The statement added: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms that this assassination and the reckless Zionist behavior of continuously targeting civilians in Gaza will lead to the region slipping into chaos and undermine the chances of peace."
The Qatari Foreign Ministry reiterated "Doha's firm position rejecting violence, terrorism and criminal acts, including political assassinations, regardless of the motives and reasons."
The ministry expressed the condolences of Qatar State , its leadership and people, to the family of the head of the political bureau of Hamas , his personal companion, to the State of Palestine and its brotherly people.
