Oman announces construction of New LNG Train in Sur
[Sun, 28 Jul 2024 10:49:46 +0300]

MUSCAT July 27. 2024 (Saba) — The Sultanate of Oman has announced the commencement of constructing a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) train at the industrial complex in Qalhat, located in Wilayat of Sur, South Al Sharqiyah Governorate. Named "Sur LNG Company," this new facility will have an annual production capacity of 3.8 million metric tons, increasing Oman's total LNG production to 15.2 million metric tons per year.

The Oman News Agency reported that the new LNG train will enhance operational efficiency and optimize the existing infrastructure. The project is expected to be completed and operational by 2029, significantly boosting the annual production of LNG and its derivatives while ensuring the optimal utilization of available reserves.

The government will move forward with the preliminary engineering design study for the new LNG train project. This step is anticipated to facilitate the final investment decision, reflecting the growing global demand for clean energy (LNG) and Oman's commitment to energy security and investment in natural gas exploration and production.
