MOGADISHU July 17. 2024 (Saba) - More than 50 members of the terrorist Al-Shabaab movement have been killed, the Somali army said on Tuesday, following a military operation in the center of the country.
“A joint operation was carried out by the national forces in Tabqla area, located between Misgwai city and Osweni town in the Galgadud Governorate in the center of the country,” the Somali News Agency quoted military sources as saying.
It added that the operation, which was based on intelligence, targeted prominent leaders of the terrorist movement, stressing that the Somali army and local forces took control of the area following the operation, while combing operations continued to track down some armed pockets trying to escape.
In a related context, the Somali Armed Forces announced new victories, as they were able to expel the militants from the Bribale area in the Bulo Bordi District of Hiran Province, in addition to taking control of areas in Jubbaland State.
