GAZA July 11. 2024 (Saba) - Palestinian ambulance and rescue teams have retrieved the bodies of over 60 martyrs from Shujaiya neighborhood, located east of Gaza City. This recovery effort comes after Zionist forces withdrew following a two-week ground invasion.
According to reports from the Palestinian Wafa News Agency on Thursday, local sources confirmed that ambulance crews continue to work amid the rubble, with dozens of bodies still awaiting recovery. The aftermath highlights the devastating toll and human cost of the recent conflict in Gaza.
The aftermath of the Israeli occupation's withdrawal from Shujaiya in Gaza has revealed catastrophic devastation, rendering the neighborhood uninhabitable with over 85% of residential buildings destroyed.
Among the ruins is a medical clinic that served more than 60,000 citizens, now razed to the ground. The occupation's forces systematically targeted infrastructure, bulldozed streets, and leveled entire blocks of homes, leaving behind a scene of utter destruction.
Residents recount harrowing experiences of being fired upon as they fled, despite being directed to specified evacuation routes. Meanwhile, the incursion into the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood and other areas of Gaza City continues, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis. Initial reports suggest at least 50 fatalities in Tal al-Hawa, with families trapped in the crossfire, beyond reach for rescue efforts.
Recent Israeli airstrikes have further added to the toll, claiming the lives of at least five civilians and injuring others in Nuseirat camp, while additional fatalities occurred in al-Rashid Street and Tal al-Sultan neighborhood.
The cumulative casualties since the onset of Israeli aggression in October now stand at a staggering 38,345 martyrs and 88,295 wounded, underscoring the immense human suffering and ongoing challenges faced by rescue teams striving to aid those still trapped or in need.
The situation remains dire, with thousands of victims buried under rubble and inaccessible to emergency responders amidst ongoing hostilities.
