ANKARA July 09. 2024 (Saba) - Turkey announced its intention to launch its satellite (Turksat A6) during the second week of next July, as part of its efforts to achieve the goals of the Turkish space program.

Turkish authorities announced today, Tuesday, receiving the first signal from the (TurkStat 6A) communications satellite, which will cover Southeast Asia and provide services to 4.5 billion people.

Local media reports today indicated that the satellite was launched by SpaceX's Falcon-9 carrier rocket from Cape Canaveral Spaceport at 19:30 (2:30 Moscow time) on Monday, July 8.

Turkish Transport Minister Abdulkadir Oraloğlu wrote on social media: "We received the first signal from our satellite, as planned, at the 67th minute."

He added: Thanks to this satellite, Turkish telecommunications companies will be able to provide services in India, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.

It is noteworthy that the work on the construction ofthis satellite began in 2014, and more than 80 percent of the satellite subsystems and ground stations were manufactured in Turkey.
