Launching regulatory mechanism for marketing, export of pomegranate crop
[Wed, 03 Jul 2024 20:36:57 +0300]

SANA'A July 03. 2024 (Saba) - The Office of Agriculture and Irrigation in Sa'ada province, in coordination with the General Administration of Agricultural Marketing and Trade and the Agricultural Export Development Unit, inaugurated the regulatory mechanism for marketing and exporting the pomegranate crop for the agricultural season 1445 AH / 2024 AD.

At the inauguration, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation - Vice Chairman of the Supreme Agricultural and Fisheries Committee, Dr. Radwan Al-Rubai, pointed to the importance of launching the regulatory mechanism for marketing and exporting the pomegranate crop and its role in supporting the local agricultural product, developing agricultural exports and supporting the national economy.

He pointed to the importance of developing local exports, whether agricultural or other. He pointed out that the ministry aspires to have Yemen industrial exports of manufacturing industries in the next stage.

He stressed that the launch of this mechanism comes in response to the directives of the Leader of the Revolution, Mr. Abdul Malik Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi, to pay attention to the development of exports and interest in exporting the Yemeni pomegranate crop in particular, as it is one of the best crops in the world in quality and production.

Al-Rubaie pointed out that Yemeni agricultural products are very popular with consumers in the foreign market. He pointed out that organizing the marketing and export of the pomegranate crop represents a pioneering experience for this crop, and a mechanism will be created to pay attention to the marketing and export of various agricultural crops, and to pay attention to the integrated value chains of crops and local products, whether in terms of production or marketing.

He pointed to the need to pay attention to post-harvest transactions in marketing this crop, whether at the local level, or marketing and distributing it to the markets to address the imbalance in the process of distributing local products in the local market, in addition to focusing on the operations that can be carried out after the harvest, which works to add value to the product, whether in the process of transportation, storage, cooling or packaging.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture touched on that there is a trend to develop exports through the preparation of studies to establish export stations in Saada, Tihama and another in the capital's secretariat, and all investors in this field will be allowed to contribute to the development of Yemeni agricultural exports and enable them to access the external market through these stations with unified standards and specifications and good practices after harvest, which contributes to maintaining the quality and reputation of the local product in global markets.

He stressed the need to pay attention to manufacturing industries, noting that Yemen imports at least $ 10 billion in manufacturing industrial products, which requires concerted efforts and thinking about finding solutions to preserve industrial and agricultural products.
