SANA'A July 03. 2024 (Saba) - Parliament Speaker Yahya al-Rai', his deputy Abdulsalam Hashul, and Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister for National Vision Affairs Mahmoud al-Junaid on Wednesday inaugurated the digital transformation project for the services of the Supreme Authority for Medicines and Medical Supplies.
At the inauguration, which was attended by Minister of Public Health and Population in the caretaker government Dr. Taha al-Mutawakel, and Minister of Water and Environment Eng. Abdulraqib al-Shurmani, al-Rai' stressed the importance of strengthening oversight of the pharmaceutical market to ensure the provision of safe medicine by activating oversight of importers of medicines and medical supplies.
He praised the efforts of the Ministry of Health and the Supreme Authority for Medicines in moving towards digital transformation to facilitate the services provided to those dealing with the Authority, whether importers, manufacturers and drug dealers.
Al-Rai' touched on the need to improve the conditions of health sector workers so that they can carry out their humanitarian tasks in alleviating the suffering of citizens in light of the current circumstances.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker of Parliament considered the Ministry of Health’s keenness to keep pace with technological developments to simplify procedures, facilitate services, and enhance oversight of the drug market.
Hashul urged the Ministry of Health to continue working to develop the sector by organizing the scientific conference and keeping pace with everything new in the field of medicines to improve the health situation in Yemen and provide medical services that replace the need for travel for treatment abroad.
In turn, the Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister for National Vision Affairs pointed out the importance of drug control, which is considered an important need for citizens as an official and societal responsibility.
He stated that the supervisory role must be supported by enhancing the services provided by the Ministry of Health and the Supreme Authority for Medicines to importers and producers of medicines.
Al-Junaid stressed the importance of raising the capabilities of health personnel to achieve paths of simplifying procedures, pointing out that the procedures guide issued by the Ministry of Civil Service in accordance with the national vision for state building, which was distributed to government institutions, aims to facilitate access to services.
He touched on the need to strengthen the legal and administrative structure and bridge the gap when dealing with electronic procedures in order to achieve automation in accordance with the latest systems. He praised the efforts of the Minister of Health and the leadership and cadres of the Authority in achieving the digital transformation of services.
For his part, the Minister of Health stressed that the digital transformation of the Authority’s services comes within an integrated vision to improve the level of services, enhance transparency, and simplify procedures in order to serve the beneficiaries, whether companies or citizens, as well as keeping pace with the technological development taking place in the world.
He pointed out that today's inauguration comes in implementation of the directives of the leader of the revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr Al-Din al-Houthi, and the directives of the President of the Supreme Political Council, and within the national vision to contribute to reducing imbalances, enhancing transparency, facilitating the provision of services, and implementing the slogan of the martyr President Al-Sammad, "A hand that builds and a hand that protects."
He also confirmed the Ministry's orientation towards e-health through automating all work in the Ministry and its various sectors within the framework of the digital transformation that Yemen will witness in various fields.
