SANA'A July 02. 2024 (Saba) - The caretaker Prime Minister, Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtoor, discussed today, Tuesday, with the Acting Humanitarian Coordinator - UNICEF Representative in Yemen, Peter Hawkins, aspects of cooperation between Yemen , the humanitarian work system in general and UNICEF in particular.
The meeting, which was attended by the Assistant Secretary-General of the Ministers Council , Yahya Al-Hadi, and the Director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Marcus Verney, focused on ways to strengthen the partnership with various international and humanitarian organizations working in Yemen, taking into account the current circumstance that Yemen is going through and the exceptional measures it imposes.
Dr. Bin Habtoor expressed appreciation for the roles played by the humanitarian work system, including UNICEF, regarding the current situation that the Yemeni people are going through as a result of ten years of American-Saudi-Emirati aggression and blockade... stressing the keenness of the leadership in Sana’a to stabilize humanitarian activity, taking into account the security aspect and values for the Yemeni people.
He stated that those accused of working for the American-Israeli intelligence, who are proven innocent of the spy network convicted of working for the American-Israeli intelligence, will be released. He explained that the revolutionary leadership rejects any abuse against others.
The caretaker Prime Minister pointed out that what Western countries do not accept in terms of infringement on their security and the stability of their people should not be tolerated by other countries and peoples.
In turn, Hawkins referred to the existing cooperation relations between international and humanitarian organizations and the Salvation Government (currently caretaker) during recent years and the joint projects that have been accomplished to alleviate the suffering of people as a result of the current situation.
He pointed out that UNICEF is working, in coordination with government agencies and donors, to resume disbursement of the emergency cash transfer project, which benefits more than one million and five hundred people. He expressed his aspiration for joint work to consolidate the positive factors that enhance the course of humanitarian and development work for the current and future periods.
The meeting was attended by Head of the Protocol Department at the Prime Minister's Office, Ismail Al Mahtouri, and Assistant Director of the Prime Minister's Office for Humanitarian Affairs.
