TULKSRM July 01. 2024 (Saba) - Occupation forces withdrew from Nur Shams refugee camp, east of Tulkarm, on Monday after causing extensive damage to infrastructure and private property during a raid that lasted over seven hours.
The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that the Israeli forces demolished a house belonging to brothers Mohammed and Mahmoud al-Zandiq in the camp, resulting in a fire that damaged nearby homes. The forces also blocked civil defense teams from reaching the site.
The forces had stormed the camp at dawn, imposing a tight military blockade and preventing residents from entering or leaving. Snipers were stationed on rooftops and inside high-rise buildings surrounding the camp.
The agency noted that the occupation forces caused significant damage to the camp's infrastructure, deliberately vandalizing public and private property along Nablus Street, and destroying the main water supply line to the camp.
In addition, Israeli bulldozers ravaged the area around the Yunis Roundabout in the northern neighborhood of Tulkarm, then moved towards Oktaba suburb, damaging the vicinity of Oktaba Roundabout and the Shaheed Seif Abu Labda Roundabout along the street adjacent to the camp.
On Sunday, an Israeli drone struck a house in the Manshiyya neighborhood of Nur Shams camp, killing 24-year-old Saeed Izzat Jaber and injuring five others, two of whom are in critical condition.
With Jaber's death, the number of martyrs in Tulkarm governorate has risen to 114 since the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip began on October 7, 2023.
In response to the ongoing military incursion, the Ministry of Education announced the postponement of Monday's high school exams in the Tulkarm district to Thursday, July 11, to ensure the safety of students and teachers.
