IBB June 13. 2024 - Residents of al-Sabrah and al-Sayani districts in Ibb province can now breathe a sigh of relief as two new solar-powered water projects, totaling 66 million and 800 thousand Yemeni Y.R have been completed.

Funded by the Central Emergency Interventions Unit of the Ministry of Finance, these projects aim to alleviate the water crisis plaguing the region, which has been further exacerbated by the ongoing conflict.

The projects, implemented by the General Authority for Rural Water Projects, involved the rehabilitation and installation of solar-powered systems for existing water infrastructure.

This critical upgrade will provide clean drinking water to over 10,000 residents, many of whom have been struggling due to limited access to this essential resource.

"These projects are a vital step forward in our efforts to improve the lives of Yemenis in rural communities," said Majed sl-Shami, Director of the the General Authority for Rural Water Projects Branch "The use of solar energy is not only sustainable but also reduces dependence on already strained resources."

Al-Shami emphasized the importance of these projects in light of the ongoing war and humanitarian crisis. "The conflict has significantly impacted access to clean water, and these projects will provide much-needed relief to the people of al-Sabrah and al-Sayani," he added.

The authority is committed to continuing its work in Ibb province. "We are constantly evaluating the needs of rural communities and prioritizing projects that will have the most significant impact," al-Shami concluded.

The successful completion of these solar-powered water projects, representing a significant investment of 66 million and 800 thousand Yemeni riyals, represents a beacon of hope for residents of al-Sabrah and sl-Sayani.

With access to clean water, these communities can begin to rebuild their lives and move towards a brighter future.
