HODEIDA June 09. 2024 (Saba) - During the past months of April , May, the Office of Industry and Trade in Hodeida province detected 357 catering violations as part of field monitoring of markets.
A report issued by the office, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), explained that the violations included the districts of Al-Hawk, Al-Hali, Al-Mina, Bajil, Bayt Al-Faqih, Al-Zaidiyah, Al-Dhahi, Zabid, Al-Marawa’a, Al-Qanawis, Al-Sukhnah, Al-Jarahi, Al-Lahiya, Al-Durayhimi, Al-Zahra, and Al-Maghlaf.
It stated that the violations were divided into 72 violations for not declaring prices, 99 for increasing prices, 44 violations for finished and damaged goods, two violations for not having a scale, 122 for underweight bread, a violation for not adhering to specifications, three for refusing to inspect, one for commercial fraud, three for poor storage, eight, failure to comply with health , technical requirements, and two other violations.
According to the report, the oversight teams targeted 1,524 stores and commercial establishments, including 650 stores and establishments that adhered to the Ministry of Industry’s circulars and sales regulations, indicating that circulars were distributed to 498 establishments.
The Director General of the Office of Industry and Trade in the province, Saleh Muhammad, stated that oversight work is continuing in the center and directorates of the province to protect consumers from fraud or raising prices and confiscating expired goods.
He appreciated the cooperation of the local authority leadership with the Industry Office to carry out supervisory tasks and maintain market stability.
