OCCUPIED AL-QUDS June 06. 2024 (Saba) - A military affairs analyst Amos Harel of the Zionist newspaper "Haaretz" confirmed that the recent operation by the occupation army has provided a much-needed boost of morale to the Zionist public. However, he cautioned against expecting similar outcomes for the remaining prisoners.
Harel emphasized that Israel is far from achieving a decisive victory and that the release of more prisoners from Gaza will only occur through a deal involving substantial concessions.
He noted that the recent morale boost followed a period of fluctuating emotions and negative news from the Gaza conflict. Harel underscored that the event does not signify a strategic shift in the conflict, pointing out that only seven out of over 250 captured Israelis have been returned in previous operations over the past eight months.
Harel also commented on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's reaction, noting a mix of disappointment and sarcasm in his response to the prisoner release. He observed Netanyahu's diminishing presence as news emerged of additional prisoners dying in captivity.
Military analyst Yoav Limor of the Zionist newspaper "Israel Hayom" echoed similar sentiments, stating that the recent operation does not alleviate Israel's broader challenges in Gaza, which have intensified.
Former Air Force Commander Eitan Ben Eliyahu acknowledged the limited impact of the prisoner release, describing it as a local event. He stressed that it would not lead to significant strategic changes in the ongoing conflict.
Likewise, former head of the Zionist Military Intelligence Division, Tamir Hayman, characterized the release of the four prisoners as a tactical development, affirming that Israel's strategic predicament remains unchanged.
