Zionist enemy bombs burn dozens of shops in Ramallah, al-Bireh

RAMALLAH May 30. 2024 (Saba) - On Thursday, the bombs of the Zionist enemy caused a large fire in the main market of the cities of Ramallah and Al-Bireh.

The news agency "Palestine Today" quoted the municipality of Al-Bireh, saying: The gas bombs fired by the enemy forces during their storming of the city at dawn, caused a large fire in Hisba and the Al-Bireh commercial complex.

The acting mayor of Al-Bireh, Robin Al-Khatib, said in a press statement that the fire spread to more than 100 shops in the Al-Bireh complex, destroying about 100 vegetable and fruit rugs, clothes, shoes, sweets, household appliances and others.

Al-Khatib confirmed that the enemy obstructed the arrival of civil defense crews to the place for more than an hour, causing the fire to spread to nearby buildings and shops, causing heavy material losses.

For its part, the Civil Defense announced that its crews in Ramallah, Jerusalem and Jericho worked to put out several fires that broke out in a number of shops due to the attacks of the Zionist enemy forces on the main market in the province of Ramallah and Al-Bireh.

The Civil Defense said in a report that the fire started in wooden vegetable carts and moved to some shops.

Ten fire trucks, reinforced by the Jerusalem and Salfit governorates, with a force of 60 firefighters, in addition to the support of partners in the police, national security and the municipality, worked to control and prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring commercial complexes.

The report added that the fire site officer confirmed that the control of the fires after three hours of work amounted to more than 80 percent. He stressed that work needs additional hours and may continue beyond noon hours today.

At dawn today, the Zionist enemy forces stormed the cities of Al-Bireh and Ramallah, amid violent confrontations that resulted in the injury of a young man, and those forces raided an exchange shop, tampered with its contents and seized money.
