MOSCOW May 29. 2024 (Saba) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday that the United States needs NATO to keep Europe in a dependency situation.
Russia Today quoted Lavrov during his meeting today with the heads of foreign diplomatic missions accredited in Moscow on the situation in Ukraine, saying: "The reason for maintaining NATO is the firm desire of the United States to maintain the alliance as a tool to control Europe, including Germany, where there are still dozens of US military bases until the Germans are forced to obey Washington's orders."
According to Lavrov, this is also being done so that the Germans remain silent when the United States blows up the "Northern Stream" lines to eliminate its rival in the European energy market, and they also remain willing to pay for expensive American LNG.
On the other hand, Lavrov did not rule out that the United States would ask several countries in the Asia-Pacific region to deploy American medium- and short-range missiles on their territory, as it did in the Philippines.
