MANILA May 29. 2024 (Saba) - A lightning bolt has struck three children on the island of Puerto Rico on the beach of Isabella City in the Philippines today and they were taken to a hospital for treatment.

"Lightning struck a beach in the northern coastal town of Isabella as a result of the inclement weather, injuring three children, one of whom was seriously injured," Philippine police said in a statement.
According to city police, the three children age from 7 to 12 years.

The children were taken to a hospital in the nearby town of Aguadilla, the police added, noting that the eldest boy had suffered the most serious injury.

Reports indicate that the number of deaths annually as a result of lightning strikes is estimated at 250,000 people, the majority of which are the result of accidents that occur in open workplaces.
