TEHRAN May 23. 2024 (Saba) - The body of the Iranian President, martyr Sayed Ibrahim Raisi, was transported to the city of Mashhad for burial alongside the shrine of Imam Ali al-Rida, peace be upon him, after a solemn procession in the city of Birjand.

According to the Tasnim International News Agency, the plane carrying the body of President Raisi and two of his companions landed this morning at Birjand International Airport, where the late president had last visited 88 days ago.

The funeral procession for President Raisi and his companions took place this morning in Birjand amidst massive crowds.

Following the historic and grand funeral procession for President Raisi and his two companions, martyrs Rahmati, the governor of East Azerbaijan, and Colonel Mosavi, the head of the President's protection team in Birjand, their bodies were transported from Birjand International Airport to the holy city of Mashhad.
