GAZA May 14. 2024 (Saba) - The Palestinian Civil Defense called on the International Committee of the Red Cross to pressure the occupation to allow its crews to conduct humanitarian interventions in the areas of military operations, from which distress calls are received for citizens, injured and trapped under the rubble, which makes us after days lose them and enter the records of martyrs.
According to the Palestinian Information Center, the General Directorate of Civil Defense renewed its appeal to all relevant authorities, especially the United Nations, the World Health Organization, the International Committee for Civil Protection and Civil Defense, and all humanitarian workers and stakeholders, to urgently intervene and pressure towards allowing the entry of the heavy equipment necessary to enable its crews to save the lives of those injured by the continuous Zionist bombardment of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, as well as the extraction of the bodies of the martyrs that decompose. Under the rubble, it is causing a new health disaster for the population.
It stressed that the silence of the United Nations and international and UN organizations and the failure to oblige the Zionist enemy to provide the Gaza Strip with fuel, especially the Civil Defense, means a death sentence on the Civil Defense, thus eliminating all relief, emergency and rescue efforts supervised by the Civil Defense.
It called on the Secretary-General of the United Nations and all international organizations to provide civil defense crews with the necessary fuel to end this deep humanitarian crisis created by the Zionist enemy.
It confirmed the implementation of 37,500 humanitarian missions, equivalent to 24 years of work in the pre-war situation, which led to increased wear and tear and damage to vehicles and equipment.
The enemy army killed 69 civil defence crews and wounded more than 250 others, including dozens who returned to work, including those who were wounded more than once, he said.
It called on all civil defense agencies to condemn these ongoing crimes against their crews in the Gaza Strip. Holding the Zionist enemy fully responsible for killing and targeting civil defense crews and demanding the protection of their crews that provide humanitarian service.
It pointed to the lack of equipment, vehicles and mechanisms necessary to retrieve martyrs and missing persons from the rubble of houses and buildings destroyed by the Zionist bombardment, and the destruction of the enemy and its bombardment of heavy machinery and convoys.
It stressed that the most dangerous at this stage is the complete lack of fuel, which results in a state of great disability and constitutes a deep humanitarian crisis, and all this will clearly lead to the loss of thousands of citizens as a result of inaccessible and unable to be rescued from under the rubble.
It pointed out that there are ten thousand missing people still under the rubble of hundreds of destroyed buildings since the beginning of the aggression until today, and civil defense crews have not been able to recover their bodies, and said: "These numbers are still increasing."
It said that the implementation of this primitive mechanism will take six years, especially since UN officials estimated that the bombing of the Zionist enemy left at least 37 million tons of rubble and rubble in all governorates of the Gaza Strip.
