CAIRO May 08. 2024 (Saba) - Hamas has confirmed that a senior delegation headed by the head of Hamas in Gaza, Dr. Khalil al-Haya, arrived in Cairo to follow up on the negotiations efforts with the mediators in Egypt and Qatar.

Hamas said in a statement, quoted by the Palestinian Media Center that the delegation includes Dr. Ghazi Hamad, Zaher Jabarin and Muhammad Nasr.

It indicated that the delegation arrived in Cairo to follow up efforts with mediators in Egypt and Qatar to finalize the agreement to stop the aggression against our people in the Gaza Strip.

On Monday, Hamas announced that it had informed the Egyptian and Qatari mediators that it had agreed to their proposal for a ceasefire.

Hamas said in a press statement that Ismail Haniyeh, head of the movement's political bureau, held a telephone conversation with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Egyptian Intelligence Minister Abbas Kamel, and informed them of Hamas' approval of their proposal for a ceasefire agreement.
