SANA'A May 02. 2024 (Saba) - Participants in the ninth scientific conference of the Yemeni Orthopedic Association recommended encouraging scientific research in the field of bone and joint surgery, and establishing an information unit concerned with documenting orthopedic operations to benefit from it in scientific research.
At the conference conclusion, today, Thursday, the participants stressed the importance of supporting the training of doctors enrolled in orthopedic surgery, and ensuring that they obtain a high level of theoretical and practical training, through coordination with the coordinators of the “Arab Board” the doctorate at the College of Medicine at Sana’a University, and enhancing the expertise of orthopedic surgeons. Yemenis through continuous communication with the relevant centers in the world, in order to make the most of their expertise.
The recommendations called for encouraging doctors , specialists in the field of bone , joint diseases to attend scientific conferences and seminars. To update their information, acquire new knowledge , experiences, and encourage the introduction of new therapeutic technology to become part of the clinical practices of orthopedic surgeons in Yemen.
The participants also recommended the necessity of preparing , presenting awareness programs and activities about common diseases related to bones and joints to raise the health awareness level in society, continuing to hold periodic medical conferences, and holding the next general conference of the association in one of the provinces of the Republic.
They stressed the importance of activating and supporting the scientific committee composed of orthopedic surgery specialists with scientific competence and long experience. To consider the health issues presented by some patients, and to express an opinion, in order to ensure the provision of high-quality service to patients, and to overcome the difficulties faced by orthopedic surgeons.
Modern methods of artificial and arthroscopic joint surgery, complex pelvic fractures, how to deal with pediatric fracture surgery, and micro-surgery of bones were also discussed.
The President of the Yemeni Orthopedic Surgeons Association, Dr. Abdul Raqeeb Al-Farah, explained that the conference sought to develop the skills and capabilities of orthopedic doctors and surgeons by exchanging experiences , knowledge among doctors, discussing and enriching scientific papers aimed at following up on rapid medical scientific developments, and advancing expertise, diagnostic methods, and modern technologies, which Increases the capabilities of the doctor and orthopedic surgeon.
He pointed out that the conference sessions, on its second day, focused on modern surgical interventions in artificial joints, knees , pelvis, and discussed cases of bone tumors, methods of treating them, and arthroscopic surgery for joints.
He pointed out that modern interventions in surgery for spinal fractures and deformities, congenital malformations in children, ways to treat them, and ways to prevent them were discussed.
At the conclusion of the conference, the members of the association, the late doctors, the scientific , preparatory committees, and the supporters were honored with shields and certificates of appreciation.
