[22/April/2024]

SANA'A April 22. 2024 (Saba) - Today's meeting, which included the Executive Director of the National Program to Address the Begging Phenomenon, Yasser Sharaf El-Din, and the Head of the Central Office of Statistics, Ahmed Ishaq, discussed strengthening cooperation to address the phenomenon of begging.

The Executive Director indicated that the meeting comes within the framework of implementing the plan of the survey and social study project to count beggars in the capital secretariat, and Sana'a, Hajjah, Al Mahwit, Al Hudaydah, and Raymah provinces.

Sharaf Al-Din stated that the project includes inventory, registration and social study of beggars in the provinces, as well as a study of the directorates in the targeted provinces to know the aspects in which treatments should be strengthened for the purpose of reducing the phenomenon.

He explained that the project is being implemented in two phases: the first is counting and surveying beggars, the second is registering and involving the relevant authorities in processing and starting the treatment.
