MARIB April 12. 2024 (Saba) - Deputy Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Fahd Al-Ezzi, and Head of the Office’s Cultural and Media Affairs Department, Zaid Al-Gharsi, visited today the site of the historic throne of Bilqis, “Temple of O’Al,” in Sarwah District.

Al-Ezzi and Al-Gharsi, along with the head of the political department, Saqqaf Al-Saqqaf, and the representatives of the Defense and Security Departments, Ibrahim Al-Amiri, and the Media and Cultural Affairs Department, Abdul Quddus Al-Shahari, were briefed by specialists and sheikhs on the extent of the damage to archaeological components, columns, and Sabaean inscriptions, as a result of the direct aggression’s bombing and looting by mercenaries for the purpose of offering them for sale in international auctions.

They learned about the damage caused by the direct aggression bombing to the “Victory Inscription,” the tower adjacent to the temple wall, and part of the roof of the antiquities storehouse.

The Deputy Director of the Presidential Office and Head of the Cultural Media Affairs Department stressed the importance of strengthening efforts to preserve the remaining archaeological components and protect them within the framework of available capabilities in cooperation with the security authorities and the local authority.
