Safe corridors in Rafah nothing but corridors of death

[05/March/2024]

SANA'A March 05. 2024 (Saba) - Despite the growing international and Arab warnings of the dangers of the expected Zionist aggression on Rafah, the date of which has not yet been set, it seems that the Zionist enemy and its extremist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have decided to disregard these warnings.

In this context, the media of the Zionist enemy continue to point out that the enemy army is already proceeding with its plans in its aggression against Rafah. They also point to the assurances of the "butcher of Gaza" Netanyahu to provide safe corridors for the displaced, but in reality they are "corridors of death."

Ashraf al-Qidra, spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Gaza, said Monday that the Zionist enemy continues to lie about the existence of safe corridors for displaced people and medical staff. He said that the safe corridors that the Zionist enemy is talking about are nothing but corridors of death.

The Palestinian government announced reports that hundreds of displaced Palestinians were on roads that Israel had declared safe.

It is noteworthy that Netanyahu, in an interview with the American channel "ABC News", published some excerpts, to control what he called the last stronghold, saying, "We will control the last Hamas battalion, and Rafah, which is the last stronghold."

Netanyahu had told Washington that the Zionist entity was preparing to carry out a military operation to invade Rafah.

He stressed that "there is no retreat from the implementation of this operation, due to its operational and strategic importance," he claimed.

The United Nations and many countries fear the humanitarian consequences for the Palestinians, who are crowded in this city, to which about 1.2 million Palestinians fled the Zionist bombardment, joining about 180,000 of its inhabitants, crowded in an area of no more than 55 square kilometers only, while the population density is the highest in the world, as every 27 Palestinians live in this city on an area of one square meter.

The international and Arab fears, which have been repeated in the form of warnings, over the past few days, that severe overcrowding will lead to more massacres against civilians, in continuation of what the Zionist enemy forces have done in Gaza since the beginning of the aggression, which is approaching its sixth month.

On Sunday, February 11, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned against any military operation or attack on the city of Rafah.

"There is no more place for people to go," she said. Agency spokeswoman Tamara al-Rifai said in a statement that any military operation in Rafah would lead to "the same consequences as we have seen before, killing and deporting more people."

The U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said more than half of Gaza's 2.3 million residents are now crammed into the city of Rafah and surrounding areas, the last haven for Palestinians in the southern enclave.

The United States, for its part, warned the Zionist enemy of the danger of a "catastrophe" if it launched a military attack on the city of Rafah, without planning it properly, according to the Washington Times, which quoted Deputy State Department spokesman Fidant Patel as saying that Washington "has not yet seen any evidence of serious planning for such an operation.

Hamas had warned of the danger of the Zionist enemy entity committing widespread and horrific massacres in the city of Rafah. She stressed that "the US administration's position of not supporting the attack on Rafah does not absolve it of full legal and political responsibility for the consequences of this attack."

The position of Egypt, a neighbor of the Gaza Strip, is the most sensitive position of countries in the Arab region, as a report by the New York Times says: Egypt is watching with concern the increasing pressure on its border with Gaza, and has strengthened the borders on its part, and warned the Zionist enemy entity of any step, which may lead to forcing the residents of the Strip, to enter Egyptian territory, and that it may affect the peace treaty.

The newspaper quoted a senior Western diplomat in Cairo as saying that Egyptian officials urged their Western counterparts to tell the Zionist entity that any move to force Gazans to enter its territory in Sinai would be considered a violation that effectively ends the Camp David peace treaty signed in 1979.

On the tenth of February, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry warned of the developments in Rafah, saying: It portends a deterioration in the Strip, and serious repercussions, at a time when reports indicated that Cairo sent about 40 tanks and armored personnel carriers to northeast Sinai during the last period, within the framework of what Egyptian sources described as a series of measures to enhance security on Egypt's border with the Gaza Strip.

French President Emmanuel Macron has warned that a Zionist attack on Rafah would lead to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and would be a turning point in the conflict.

Macron stressed that his country shares the same concerns with Jordan and Egypt about the forced displacement of those in Rafah. Earlier, Macron said – in a phone call with Netanyahu – that the attack on Rafah will lead to the forced displacement of the population, which would constitute a violation of international human rights and increase the risk of regional escalation.

For his part, Jordan's King Abdullah II said during his meeting with Macron in Paris that the Zionist attack on Rafah will have catastrophic humanitarian consequences that cannot be accepted.

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stressed that any attack on Rafah would be devastating for the 1.5 million Palestinians in the city.

According to the United Nations, some 1.5 million people, most of them displaced by the war, are gathering in Rafah, which has turned into a huge camp, the only large city in the Strip that the Zionist enemy army has not yet invaded by land.

The United Nations said that "more than half of Gaza's population is crammed into less than 20 percent of the Gaza Strip."

Rafah is also the main entry point for aid from Egypt, which is controlled by the Zionist enemy entity, and aid through this port is insufficient to meet the needs of the population threatened by famine and epidemics.

Observers all over the world wonder about the unparalleled brutality and the inability of the international community to deter this brutal and blatant aggression that has no parallel in contemporary history.

Observers also raise questions about the sufficient period for the displacement of hundreds of thousands of residents, if the claims of the evacuees and the safe corridors "corridors of death" talked about by the "butcher of Gaza" Netanyahu are true, and where will the residents of Rafah be displaced?!!
