Al-Awda Hospital in Jabalia stops operating after running out of fuel stocks

GAZA February 28. 2024 (Saba) - Al-Awda Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip city announced on Wednesday the suspension of its services, due to the depletion of fuel and medical supplies.

Al-Awda Hospital warned on Tuesday of the suspension of its services to the sick and wounded, due to the lack of medical supplies, medicines and fuel, in light of a suffocating siege and a security grip imposed by the Israeli forces on the northern areas of the Strip.

The Palestinian News Agency quoted the director of the monitoring and evaluation department in "Al-Awda", Dr. Muhammad Salha, in a press statement, as saying, "The complete cessation of services in Al-Awda Hospital will lead to a complete deprivation of basic health services for citizens, especially in light of the cessation of all hospitals in the north from service."

"The hospital will be shut down and operate will exacerbate the complex health crisis due to the ongoing Israeli aggression and blockade since the seventh of October."

The doctor appealed to all international, humanitarian and human rights organizations to "pressure the occupation to provide the hospital with medicines, consumables, medical supplies and fuel."

Enemy forces surrounded Al-Awda Hospital for 18 days, as it ended on February 10, leaving severe destruction on the upper floors of the building, in addition to destroying a number of ambulances at its entrance.

Since the beginning of the aggression on the Gaza Strip on the seventh of last October, the Zionist enemy has taken 31 hospitals out of service by bombing, destroying and depriving them of medical supplies and fuel, and partially targeting 152 health institutions.

In an indefinitive toll, the number of martyrs in the Gaza Strip rose to 29,954, the majority of them children and women, since the start of the Israeli occupation aggression on the seventh of last October.
