SANA'A February 27. 2024 (Saba) - The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Ibrahim Al-Hamli, met on Tuesday with the new United Nations Resident Coordinator - Humanitarian Coordinator Julien Harneis.

The meeting touched on a number of issues related to the humanitarian situation in Yemen as a result of the blockade and aggression, as well as humanitarian action paths aimed at alleviating human suffering.

At the meeting, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council welcomed the United Nations Resident Coordinator and wished him success in his duties.

Al-Hamli stressed that the Council is the only window for humanitarian work in Yemen and provides all facilities to proceed with the implementation of humanitarian work tasks and the obligations of United Nations organizations, agencies and programs in the field of humanitarian work, especially with organizations that work in accordance with the principles and values of humanitarian work and respect the values, customs and traditions of the Yemeni people in order to ensure alleviating the repercussions of the worst human suffering in the world resulting from aggression and blockade.

He pointed to the need to strengthen the positive roles of UN and international organizations and to neutralize and separate humanitarian work from the political file.
