SANA'A December 20. 2023 (Saba) - The national junior team taught its Saudi counterpart the bitterness of oppression and sorrow for the second time, by snatching the tenth West Asian Football Championship, defeating it on penalties 3-2, after a positive draw with one goal for the same in the match which brought them together today in the final of the tournament hosted by the Sultanate of Oman.
The Yemeni youth sparked the victory first with the goal of the star Abdul Rahman Al-Khader, who received the ball inside the penalty area before scoring the Saudi net, ending the first half with this lead, amid the loss of opportunities achieved to strengthen the score.
In the second half, the Red Stars continued to spread magic on the field of the match and spread the word on the field with the absence of the final touch, before the Saudi team adjusted the score, so the two teams resorted to penalty kicks, which resulted in a Yemeni score of 3-2.
It is noteworthy that the Yemeni champions repeated the same achievement at the expense of Saudi Arabia during the tournament hosted by the city of Dammam in December 2021 AD.
