Tourism resumes work on tourist guide project for religious monuments related to faith identity & their flags

SANA'A December 11. 2023 (Saba) - The Ministry of Tourism will resume the day after tomorrow, Wednesday, work on the second phase of the tourist guide project, for religious tourist attractions related to faith identity and its flags, to be completed during the second half of this month of December.

The caretaker Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Al-Hassan Al-Amir, explained to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the project, in its second phase, includes inventorying and documenting about 100 religious monuments and sites in more than ten governorates, with the participation of a qualified national team of 24 academics and specialists from the Ministry and Yemeni universities’ staff.

He pointed out that the first phase of the project, which began at the beginning of this year, focused on setting the general visions and perceptions of the project, studying them, crystallizing them, and projecting them into a clear, systematic program and action plan, while the current phase revolves around collecting data and information, so that in the final phase, information can be collected in the rest of the governorates and analyzed, auditing, reviewing, issuing and producing the guide in its final form.

The Minister stressed that the guide project, which is the first of its kind, aims to inventory and document the historical, tourist and religious landmarks related to the faith identity and its flags, and to enrich it with the necessary information and images, enabling researchers, scholars, those interested and visitors to know many details about it, pointing out the importance of religious tourism within the Yemeni tourism component and its rich product.

He stated that the project seeks to highlight the religious stations that contributed to changing the features of reality through what their figures presented at the various religious, political and social levels and the extent of its impact on societal awareness.

The Minister Al Amir pointed out that the importance of the guide lies in the fact that it provides a database and information about a group of prominent figures of guidance during successive periods of time in Yemeni history and their contributions in the religious and cognitive field, in addition to stimulating domestic tourism, controlling inventory, documentation, and digital archiving processes, and drawing a clear direction about the mechanisms for preserving these monuments and providing them with the services necessary for their connection to the cultural and faith identity of the nation.
