OCCUPIED AL-QUDS October 24. 2023 (Saba) - The Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-Detainees Affairs Authority has announced that the Zionist enemy authorities are taking advantage of their ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip for the 17th day in a row to single out female detainees inside prisons and abuse them in various forms.
The Palestine Today news agency quoted the Authority in a press statement as saying the prison administration went too far in torturing female detainees, taking advantage of preventing lawyers and families from visiting them, and the major blackout on the prison situation in general.
Storming Damoun Prison on 10/19 were reported from a large force of guards wearing bulletproof armor, carrying batons, poison gas bombs, and weapons in their hands. They turned the rooms upside down and emptied them of all items, such as: tables, chairs, and tools. The kitchen, the food supplies, even the special things and items that they made or bought on their own account.
It explained that the repressive forces beat the female detainees after they rejected what was happening, and isolated some of them. They also flooded the rooms with poisonous gas without taking into consideration the presence of minors, elderly women, injured and sick women, noting that there are female detainees who suffer from allergies and asthma.
Detainees have been subjected to severe punishments for 16 days, as follows: preventing detainees from contacting their families, preventing visits, preventing visits from lawyers, deprivation of the prison, deprivation of the cantina, confiscation of all electrical tools, and reducing the duration of showering to a quarter of an hour per day for each room, frequent break-ins into the rooms, death threats and constant insults.
The Authority pointed out that there has been a large campaign of arrests recently, most of them under the pretext of incitement and activity on social media sites, as the current number of female detainees has reached approximately 50 detainees in Damoun Prison, in addition to those in investigation or at the “Sharon” prison crossing, and this number is Subject to change at any moment.
