DAMASCUS October 06. 2023 (Saba) - Syria declared three days of official public mourning, starting today, Friday, for the civilian and military martyrs who were martyred as a result of the brutal terrorist attack that targeted the graduation ceremony of military college officer students in Homs this afternoon.
The Syrian news agency SANA quoted the government in a statement today, saying, “Flags are flown at half-mast throughout the Syrian Arab Republic and in all embassies and diplomatic bodies abroad throughout this period.”
This morning, the funeral ceremony for the martyrs of the terrorist attack on the graduation ceremony for military college officer students began in front of the military hospital in Homs.
In a statement to reporters, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed Forces and Minister of Defense, General Ali Abbas, said: “The price of dignity and pride for the homeland is great, and the dearest thing a human being can offer is himself... The price of the martyrs who rose yesterday is very high for their blood.”
According to the Ministry of Health, the toll is not final. There were 89 martyrs as a result of the terrorist attack that targeted the graduation ceremony of military college officer students in Homs yesterday, and the number of casualties reached 277.
