TEHRAN September 17. 2023 (Saba) - Chief Prosecutor of Hormozgan, Iran Mojtaba Ghahramani has said the authorities seized a large shipment of American weapons and riot gear from a floating ship as it entered Iran's southern border.
Tasnim International News Agency quoted Ghahramani in a statemen as saying “A large shipment of weapons and tools of American riot chaos was seized and confiscated when it entered the water borders southern Iran,” Pointing out that the aforementioned shipment was hidden in a boat.
He said the shipment included more than 6,000 electric shock devices made in the United States of America and which could be used in chaos and riots, planned and implemented an operation to seize that shipment.
He added "The shipment was monitored since it was loaded outside the country's borders and as soon as it entered Iranian waters, it was seized in the vicinity of Bandar Khumir."
He continued "In this regard, two people were arrested and placed in pretrial detention, and the rest of the elements associated with this network are being monitored."
The Iranian spokesman concluded his statement by saying: “As a result of the preliminary investigation and based on the officers’ report, it was found that this shipment of weapons was prepared and transported to the country to cause riots in the coming days.”
