TASHKENT July 10. 2023 (Saba) - Incumbent President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has won the early presidential elections with 87.05% of the vote, according to preliminary results.
According to the Russia Today website, the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan said that the voter turnout amounted to 79.8%.
Four candidates ran in the electoral race, the current president of the Liberal Democratic Party, Ulugbek Anaytov of the Democratic People's Party, Rabakhan Mahmudova of the Democratic Justice Party, and Abdu Shukr Hamzayov of the Uzbek Environmentalist Party.
These elections were the first of their kind since the constitution was amended and the country's president's term was extended from five to seven years.
