BEIJING April 04. 2023 (Saba) - Beijing warned Washington on Tuesday against establishing additional military bases in the Philippines which may lead to increasing military tensions and threatening regional peace and stability.

Chinese media quoted Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning as saying "Out of individual interest, the United States continues to strengthen its military deployment in the region," stressing that "the result will inevitably be an increase in military tension and a threat to regional peace and stability."

Ning added "Countries in the region must think deeply about what is appropriate and what is beneficial for all in order to make choices that are truly beneficial to their interests as well as to regional peace and stability."

The Philippines identified four additional military bases that the United States could use, one close to the disputed South China Sea, and another not far from Taiwan.
